Punctuality Vs Late ⏰
Habit of the week: Punctuality Punctuality means being on time for your commitments, whether it’s…
I am deeply grateful to the Art of Living for being the first catalyst that introduced me to true happiness back in 2008. My friend JK referred me to their program, and I remember filling out a paper form and riding to Kaggadasapura in Bengaluru for registration. The form highlighted some risk factors for participants with diabetes or heart conditions, especially when practicing Sudarshan Kriya and other breathing exercises.
At that time, the program spanned five days, during which we were taught yoga, meditation, and the Ujjayi breathing technique. The teacher was always cheerful and approachable, making the learning experience joyful. On the first day, we were asked to write down our life goals. Without much thought, I happily wrote about owning an independent home and a Honda CR-V for my family.
The program included activities designed to break subconscious barriers. For instance, we danced blindfolded to instrumental music—a liberating experience that helped me overcome some of my internal limitations. Buddy groups were also formed, where we supported and cared for each other, fostering social skills and a sense of community.
The first experience of Sudarshan Kriya was profound, though it was challenging for me to maintain the breathing rhythm. Afterward, participants shared their experiences. One participant described a vivid sensation of their head being “cut,” which made me wonder why I didn’t have such intense reactions. The teacher gently explained that every individual’s experience is unique. The program also included reflective exercises like “Who Am I?” which were enlightening.
I was so impressed with the transformation I experienced that I introduced the program to my wife, sister, mother, and mother-in-law. Each of them had their own wonderful experiences. During my startup days at ActOnMagic, Sudarshan Kriya became my go-to tool for staying calm and recharging my energy. Fortunately, my partner practiced it too, which made it easier for both of us to follow the routine.
Later, my kids participated in the Intuition Program, and we even had the opportunity to attend a live Q&A session with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. During the pandemic, I took the Sahaj Meditation course and received a personal mantra for daily practice.
However, after embarking on my spiritual journey and undergoing rigorous training in areas like dharma, karma, reincarnation, and the guru-shishya relationship, I realized that the Sahaj Meditation program might have been premature for some participants. My gurus emphasized the importance of a strong foundation before advanced initiation. They also cautioned against initiating unprepared students for a fee, as it transfers the students’ karma to the teacher.
I am profoundly grateful to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and the Art of Living for making a significant, positive shift in my life’s journey.
Aum Tat Sat.
