Many people understand the difference between what’s important and what’s urgent, yet many still fall into the habit of saying, “I don’t have time” for things that matter. Excuses! Are you one of those who procrastinates?
Often, we neglect developing positive habits and spending time with family, yet many of us still manage to spend an hour (or more) on social media! In a recent chat with IISc students at a NASSCOM event, some mentioned spending two to three hours a day on social media. There’s a well-known saying, “What we practice, we become good at.” Sadly, unchecked social media use means practicing distraction. Many parents worry about excessive screen time, yet find it challenging to instill positive habits in their children.
The first step is to decide: “I can, I will, and I am able to accomplish what I plan,” as my Gurudeva affirms. Then, create an SSC Plan!
What is SSC?
SSC stands for Start – Stop – Continue:
- Start – Identify what I will begin doing today.
- Stop – Recognize what I will stop doing today.
- Continue – Commit to the things I will keep doing!
Let us look an example: Controlling Screen Time
- Start:
- Set a screen time limit on devices (e.g., one hour).
- Practice an affirmation: “I am in control of my thoughts.”
- Stop:
- Stop using devices when spending time with family and friends.
- Continue:
- Appreciate helpful insights on social media while controlling how it influences my day.
In upcoming posts, we’ll explore how SSC can transform our daily lives.
Have a HabitZup day!
