Introduction
Rudeness means acting in a disrespectful or impolite manner, hurting others’ feelings and damaging relationships.

Help Meera at School
In school, Meera was often rude to her classmates. If someone asked for help, she would snap, “Figure it out yourself!” Her tone and attitude made others feel bad, and soon, her classmates stopped talking to her.
One day, her teacher called her aside and said,
“Rudeness is like a thorn. It hurts others and makes them stay away. Try being kind and see how differently people treat you.”
Meera decided to give it a try.
The next time someone asked for help, she responded politely. Slowly, her friends started coming back to her, and she realized that politeness made her feel happier and more connected to others.
Help Nikhil at Home
At home, Nikhil often interrupted his parents and never said “please” or “thank you.”
If his mother asked him to help with chores, he would rudely reply, “I don’t want to!”
His parents noticed and told him, “Being rude makes others feel unappreciated. If you speak kindly and with respect, you will see a big change in how people respond to you.”
Nikhil understood his mistake and began using polite words. Soon, there was more harmony at home, and everyone appreciated his efforts.
Reference from Panchatantra Stories
In the Panchatantra, there’s a story of a rude crow who always mocked other animals in the jungle. One day, when it needed help, no one came to its aid because of its past rude behavior. The crow learned that kindness and politeness are much more valuable than being rude and harsh.
Thirukural Couplets
